As always at this time of year, dear old Santa Claus sets up home in his cosy farmyard cottage within the warmth of the tearoom conservatory. He loves to meet his young visitors, have a chat about Christmas presents, the behaviour of his reindeer, and the likelyhood of snow. He then reaches into his big toy box and pulls out an early Christmas gift. It's a friendly old-fashioned Santa experience that includes a good-value gift suited to the age and gender of his visitors. The tearoom and much of the farm will be brightly decorated for the festive season, and even the animals will be joining in with the seasonal celebrations. There will be Christmas crafts to make and colour within the museum.
Almond Valley remains open to general visitors as usual, but if you want to meet Santa, a specific appointment needs to be booked in advance, which avoids long waits and queues. Santa tickets are great value - £7 for children (£5 if they are Friends members) and £6 for accompanying adults. This includes free admission to the whole Almond Valley site including the farm and the new under-cover Paraffin Works play area (normal cost £9.50 and £7.50)
Santa is in residence on the 7th and 8th of December, the 14th and 15th and daily between the 21st and 24th of December, and will meet young visitors between 10.15 and 16.00. To book your appointment, telephone 01506 414957 during office hours, provide names of all young guests and make payment by credit card. Santa is a popular man, particularly at weekends, so please pre-book as tickets may not be available on the day.
