The features of the farm are carefully designed to ensure that you stay safe while the animals remain relaxed and happy. Many residents will come up to say “hello” as you enter the animal house or pass by an enclosure. Seasonal events and demonstrations allow a more in-depth conversation with many of the animals. “Small animal encounter” sessions take place at weekends and during holiday periods and give the chance to get nose-to-nose with a rabbit; whisker-to-whisker with a guinea pig, and discover their favourite meal, their favourite hair care product, and many other intimate secrets.

During spring there are often lambs, calves and other farm babies that are bottle fed, and for much of the year our dairy cows take centre stage in daily milking demonstrations.

In the museum activity area, there are always pictures to colour and sometimes some puzzles to enjoy. During the school holidays, as part of special events, there are all manner of crafts, games and activities to try your hand at, and much else besides to discover and enjoy.
